How do I lose weight and some muscle but not gain weight?

Hi, I wanted to know how to lose weight and some muscle without gaining weight. I am going back to gymnastics and trying to drop some pounds but seem to just get heavier and heavier. My diet isn’t horrible but it could be better and I’m mostly muscle but need to drop some weight. How do i accomplish this?
